Toyota C-HR adds hybrid powertrain option

Toyota has added a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain to its upgraded C-HR.

The Toyota C-HR is the latest model to benefit from the hybrid powertrain, offered on the 2WD Koba C-HR, which makes up nearly half of all C-HR sales.

It will arrive in Australia in December – the New Zealand date has not yet been released.

In addition to the new powertrain option, other features upgraded include front and rear styling and the addition of Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto.

Toyota Australia vice president sales and marketing Sean Hanley says Toyota is committed to increasing the availability of its advanced hybrid drivetrain across a broader range of cars and to give customers as many options of a fuel-efficient petrol-electric powertrain.

“We now offer hybrid power in some of our most popular models including Camry, Corolla hatch, Prius and RAV4, and its addition to C-HR will further broaden its appeal,” Hanley says.

The new 1.8L hybrid powertrain will be offered in the 2WD C-HR Koba and uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that helps deliver a combined-cycle fuel consumption of 4.3L/100km.

Along with the new powertrain option, the upgraded C-HR features a range of exterior design enhancements, including new LED headlights, taillights and alloy wheels.
