Video: Cadillac Lyriq does Tour de France

The Cadillac Lyriq EV successfully completed the Tour de France (June 29-July 21).

General Motors’ European subsidiary says the Cadillac Lyriq at the 2024 Tour de France helped the race’s EF Pro Cycling team from start to finish.

The tour ushered in a new era of all-electric support vehicles for the first time in its 121-years.

“The Tour de France is the most demanding course we’ve put the Cadillac Lyriq through to date – testing its limits in the real world on all types of roads,” says GM Europe president and managing director Jaclyn McQuaid.

“The Lyriq traversed nearly 3500km through all types of terrain, and we saw its sleek design, innovative technology, and performance shine throughout, loudly demonstrating that EVs can be the right choice for any type of journey.”

EF Pro Cycling team rider Richard Carapaz won the yellow jersey on Stage 3 and the polka dot jersey on Stages 19 and 20.

The Cadillac Lyriq’s 1751 litres was used by the EF Pro Cycling team to transport critical equipment to support the riders on each stage.

Additionally, the Ultium battery pack and its WLTP-estimated 530km range, as well as advanced energy regeneration systems, made the Lyriq shine at the Tour de France, says GM Authority.

During Stage 3 – which is the longest – the Lyriq did 230km or less than half its total range.

Cadillac says the support Lyriq EV will return with the EF Pro Cycling team for the Femme Tour de France from August 12-18, 2024.
