Complimentary charging and five years’ support for new Cadillac Lyriq customers
The arrival of the new Cadillac Lyriq EV in Australia and New Zealand comes with-one-year free public charging in Australia, with New Zealand Cadillac Lyriq customers due to get a charge and warranty offer soon.
Depending on a customer’s lifestyle, the owner is invited to choose between an additional two-years of free public charging or the complimentary supply and standard installation of a standard 7.4kW home EV charger.
“Whether this is your first EV or your latest and greatest, we want to ensure the experience is a luxury one,” says General Motors (GM) Australia and New Zealand managing director Jess Bala.
“With this in mind, Cadillac will introduce charging partnerships which will enhance the EV experience, and at the same time deliver a high-end charging solution befitting of a luxury, fully electric SUV.”
The Cadillac Lyriq offers high-speed DC fast charging for use when away from home, enabling customers to add up to 128km range in 10-minutes when charging at a public charge station.
To deliver these charging benefits, Cadillac has announced it will partner with carefully selected, established, and respected charging suppliers in Australia for public and at-home solutions where it will partner with Chargefox to provide Lyriq owners with public charging across their national network. For home charging solutions, Cadillac has selected JET Charge to deliver and install a 7.4kW Autel unit to customers who select this option at purchase.
The Cadillac Lyriq is powered by GM’s EV modular battery which allows engineers to optimise battery energy storage and layout for EVs of all shapes and sizes.
A key benefit is that each vehicle constructed on the platform is built with a specific configuration of battery modules and electric drive units to provide a one-of-a-kind performance tailored to each vehicle’s goals, says GM.
In the Lyriq’s case, the battery modules are arranged within the battery pack horizontally across the vehicle underbody – designed as an integral part of the vehicle structure to create a safer, higher-performing vehicle.
An industry-first Wireless Battery Management System communication module allows individual battery cells to coordinate while reducing the amount of wire required compared with traditional EVs.
With less battery space devoted to wires, more cells can be included in the same amount of space, allowing for a more energy-dense, efficient battery which delivers improved range, says GM.
The Lyriq’s common battery cells feature a nickel-manganese-cobalt-aluminium (NCMA) chemistry designed to reduce cobalt content in the batteries by more than 70%.
The Cadillac Lyriq features an eight year/160,000km “Electric Vehicle Propulsion Battery Warranty”.
Australian Cadillac Lyriq owners can also get the ‘Cadillac Confidence’ programme – a benefits experience.
Available as standard and in addition to complimentary and comprehensive charging solutions, Cadillac Confidence is designed as a premium wrap-around service and provides reassurance and support for all Lyriq owners, says GM.
The package includes a five-year unlimited kilometre factory vehicle warranty, five-years roadside assistance, and five-years scheduled servicing.
The package is transferable from one owner to the next, provided terms and conditions associated with the warranty have been followed.
Cadillac has partnered with Australian consumer lender Plenti to offer tailored financing solutions for Lyriq and GM’s upcoming EV range.
