Video: Kiwis at Nordic EV Summit in March

EVtalk publisher Vern Whitehead will report on the Nordic EV Summit in Oslo on March 21 and 22.

While there he’ll also establish contacts with one of Norway’s islands moving towards electrification, representing advocacy group Electric Island Waiheke in its bid to become the world’s first electric vehicle-only residential island by 2030.

Whitehead’s already familiar with summit driver the Norwegian EV Association and its secretary general Christina Bu, a keynote speaker at the summit, who helped launch Waiheke Island’s initiative while in New Zealand late last year.

Another Kiwi, Meridian Energy procurement manager Nick Robilliard, is a guest speaker at the summit, discussing “electrifying large fleets”.

Others with Kiwi connections will also be there, such as Californian EVangelist Chelsea Sexton, a frequent visitor to New Zealand for the Leading the Charge annual EV road trips.

A video previewing the summit also mentions “the world’s largest privately owned charging network stretches all the way from South to North Island, New Zealand,” thanks to ChargeNet NZ’s Steve and Dee West.

China is also represented as a leader in EV demand and supply with Nio’s president and co-founder Lihong Qin talking about his company’s EV ambitions.

Other speakers include Barbara Vollert from Porsche Cars, Norway’s climate and environment minister Ola Elvestuen, Bloomberg New Energy Finance’s Colin McKerracher and Jaguar Land Rover chief executive officer Dr Ralf Speth.
