Video: Tesla’s Full Self-Driving beta impresses

Tesla’s new Full Self-Driving (FSD) beta appears to detect and avoid road debris, according to a new video.

Like Tesla Autopilot, the EV manufacturer’s self-driving beta requires driver attention at all times since it can encounter things that it doesn’t know how to react to, including things that it can’t detect, Electrek reports.

Tesla even warns that “it may do the wrong thing at the worst time”.

Road debris, or any stationary object on the road, has been a problem for Tesla’s Autopilot in the past.

The system would just keep the car in its lane, and if the driver wasn’t attentive it would sometimes result in accidents, Electrek adds.

Tesla owner James Locke shared a video that shows FSD avoiding road debris.

Electrek says it’s looking forward to seeing Tesla’s FSD being able to avoid potholes.

Meanwhile, Tesla Energy is reported to be sending a shipment of 792 Tesla Powerwalls to Australia, according to Tesla container ship and delivery tracker Veda Prime.

That follows the announcement of its 3MW Megapack – a grid-scale version of its Powerpack – as a component of a 300MW battery in Victoria.

In Australia, Powerwall batteries are expected to comprise a massive virtual power plant (VPP) involving 50,000 homes with solar panels and energy storage systems, likely to provide 250MW of solar energy and store 650MWh of backup energy.
