VW ID.3 for NZ
Volkswagen’s first all-electric vehicle the ID.3 is coming to New Zealand, Volkswagen New Zealand confirms.
But just when it will arrive here, along with pricing and updated local specification, won’t be known until closer to its New Zealand launch.
“We are currently having discussions with Volkswagen AG to try to secure (the ID.3) and our objective is to get it as soon as possible for the New Zealand market,” Volkswagen New Zealand marketing manager Sara Pastor Ruprichova says.
Europe is the priority at the stage, the starting price under 30,000 euros, following the ID.3’s world premiere at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, September 12-22.
At series production launch, the ID.3 will be available with three battery size options, with range from about 330km to 550km.
Volkswagen started pre-bookings in Europe for the ID.3 1st limited launch edition in May, allowing a non-binding reservation for 1000 euros, orders able to be advanced shortly.

I would like to learn how I get over fear of battery going flat and left in the desert. Is there back up of any sort? You can always get a can of petrol brought to you to get to the next station. What would you do if your battery unexpectedly failed??
You mean run flat or fail? Failure is very unlikely. Running flat would come down to poor planning – and would usually result in a tow to the nearest charger, or any power point.
