VW ID.3 software issues ongoing?

Rumours about problems with Volkswagen ID.3 software development continue in the German media.

VW has often said customer deliveries will start without a change around June 2020. The official version is that the ID.3s produced currently are equipped with the initial version of the software and will be updated later prior to customer delivery, according to Inside EVs.

However, latest stories include unofficial input from “insiders” that present a worse picture.

The problems stem from reportedly “too hastily” developed all-new basic software architecture and insufficient programmers to solve them, Inside EVs reports.

One media suggestion is that Volkswagen should propose a software alliance with Daimler – already in discussions on joint software development with BMW.
