VW’s online Geneva Motor Show

In the wake of the Geneva Motor Show cancellation, Volkswagen is making a virtual version of its stand and new model display available online.
It will be live on VW’s international website from now until April 17. It’s available in English, and visits are free.
VW says the broadcast offers visitors an interactive digital experience. They can stroll through the booth, view vehicles from all sides and also change colours and wheel rim configurations.
VW’s sales, marketing and aftersales chief Jurgen Stackmann says the virtual motor show is the forerunner of online presentations of new vehicles that will work alongside real world car shows.
The online Geneva show booth’s main focus is on new products including the future ID.3 electric vehicle, the R2 plug-in hybrid, and the latest GTi, GTD, and GTE sports versions of the Golf.
VW passenger cars marketing boss Jochen Sengpiehl says virtual reality is part of the company’s digitalisation strategy, and will be an integral part of marketing.
