Xpeng has confirmed a new entry-level variant of its G6 electric SUV will arrive in New Zealand priced from $59,990, according to updated specification documents.

The RWD Standard Range model sits below the existing Long Range ($63,990) and AWD Performance ($72,990) variants, offering a more accessible entry point to the Chinese brand’s mid-size SUV.

Xpeng management has indicated the $59,990 model will arrive soon, though specific availability dates have not been confirmed.

The new model features a 68.5kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery paired with a single 185kW rear-mounted motor, delivering a WLTP driving range of 480km on 18-inch wheels or 470km with optional 20-inch wheels.

Performance figures show 0–100km/h acceleration in 6.94 seconds, while energy consumption is rated at 16.6kWh/100km on the standard 18-inch wheel configuration.

The Standard Range model maintains most of the G6’s core features, including the 15.6-inch central display, 10.25-inch digital dashboard, and Xpeng’s XPILOT driver assistance suite with adaptive cruise control and lane keeping functions.

Standard equipment includes LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, electric tailgate, wireless phone charging, and an 18-speaker XOPERA sound system. The model supports 11kW AC charging and up to 382kW DC fast charging, with 10–80% charging completed in 12 minutes under optimal conditions.

At 2065kg, the Standard Range variant is 155kg lighter than the Long Range model, which uses an 80.8kWh battery and delivers 525km of WLTP range.

The G6 range competes in the premium mid-size SUV segment alongside models like the BMW iX3, Genesis GV60, and Tesla Model Y, with the new entry variant positioned to broaden the model’s appeal in the New Zealand market.
