Z Energy to increase EV charger rates from June 24

Z Energy has announced it will raise prices on its nationwide EV charging network later this month, with per-kWh rates rising from 79 cents to 88 cents.

The increase will take effect from 24 June 2025, affecting both fast and ultra-fast chargers across the Z network. The company says the adjustment reflects higher wholesale electricity costs, along with rising transmission and distribution charges.

According to Z, the typical EV driver using around 22 kWh per charging session can expect to pay approximately $1.98 more per visit.

Z is the latest in a string of EV charging operators to announce price increases in 2025. In recent months, other networks including ChargeNet and Meridian’s Zero network have also raised rates, citing similar cost pressures tied to energy market volatility and infrastructure upgrades.

While home charging remains the most cost-effective option for many EV owners, fast and ultra-fast public charging continues to play a vital role in supporting longer journeys and urban users without home chargers.
