Zero emissions transport in Hyundai campaign
A woman stuck in traffic in her Hyundai Nexo whips out her electric scooter and gets to work on time, her fuel cell EV later driving itself to her work car park.
That’s one of the scenarios in five videos launched globally by Hyundai around its ‘Because of You’ campaign showing how people can improve their lives through advanced mobility, the films available on the HyundaiWorldwide YouTube channel.
“As a brand offering diverse mobility services beyond the transportation sector, Hyundai Motor has captured into these films its passion for offering valuable time to its customers,” Hyundai Motor Company executive vice president and chief marketing officer Wonhong Cho says.
The first film, shot in downtown Amsterdam during the morning rush hour, titled, “08:50 Amsterdam,” a worker is unable to get to work on time because of the traffic. She gets out of her Nexo FCEV and hops onto a Hyundai electric scooter, zig-zagging her way through the jam to arrive at her office. Out of the window, she sees her Nexo park itself after having arrived there autonomously.
A second clip, “13:08 Seoul,” has Korean para-athlete and archer Park Jun-beom compete in an archery game. To the surprise of onlookers, he stands up from his wheelchair, supported by Hyundai’s wearable robotic suit H-MEX (Hyundai Medical Exoskeleton), and unleashes an arrow. It demonstrates athletes with physical disabilities can now compete on a level playing field, rising above their limitations.
The third film, “17:40 Los Angeles,” shows a couple paragliding down a mountain, while their Nexo trails them along a winding road in autonomous mode.
In the last film, “21:58 Chongqing,” a school girl practices soccer in the evening, but the lights go out. Her watching mother plugs her Nexo to a power supplier, illuminating the whole scene again.
All of these commercials, combined into the final Hyundai Manifesto film “Because of You. Our Story,” exemplify the various ways people using Hyundai Motor mobility solutions can overcome the boundaries of time and space to enhance the quality of their experiences, the company says.
Hyundai Motor’s new global brand campaign demonstrates the company’s commitment to innovation and advanced technologies as well as customers being at the heart of the business, Hyundai Motors New Zealand general manager Andy Sinclair says.
“As a 100% Kiwi owned company, we too are committed to the customer experience and bringing in product that suits our customers’ lifestyles,” he says.
“Hyundai New Zealand’s vision is about connecting Kiwi’s – connecting them to the car that suits their lifestyle, connecting them to the things they care about. We’re also committed to leading the way when it comes to bringing advanced technologies here to New Zealand, of which the Nexo is an example of that.”
Hyundai is making these technologies and experiences possible through a series of investments and partnerships.
In September, Hyundai Motor Group announced a US$4 billion joint venture plan to develop self-driving vehicle technologies with Aptiv.
The joint venture will advance the design, development and commercialisation of SAE Level 4 and 5 autonomous technologies.
Also in September at the 2020 Spring/Summer New York Fashion Week, Hyundai Motor demonstrated its commitment to sustainability with its Re:Style Collection, partnering with Zero + Maria Cornejo to unveil upcycled clothes created with leftover leather scraps from car seats.
As Hyundai’s second-generation FCEV with a 666km range, the Nexo emits only clean water vapour and purifies the air while driving, filtering 99.9% of ultra-fine particles in the process.
Around the world, Hyundai Motor is fostering the growth of fuel-cell and other related industries as part of its FCEV Vision 2030 to create a global hydrogen society.
Hyundai Motor is part of the Hydrogen Council, a worldwide chief executive officer-led coalition of 60 energy, transport and industry companies.
