ZS EV and classic roadster win MG Show ‘n’ Shine
Auckland MG owner Geoff Burgess has won the 2022 MG New Zealand online Show ‘n’ Shine competition for 2022, receiving the top prize of a $1000 gift voucher.
As part of the promotion, MG New Zealand donated $30 for each entry to New Zealand Red Cross and raised funds for vulnerable, at-risk Kiwis.
The campaign is complementary to the current Test Drive for a Difference initiative, which is underway at the moment which also benefits New Zealand Red Cross.
Burgess impressed judges with his passion for the MG brand, his entry displaying his 1965 MGB Roadster alongside the latest addition to his family garage, a 2022 MG ZS EV.
“Geoff’s entry captured the essence of what MG is all about,” MG Motor New Zealand country manager Patrick Bourke says.
“One vehicle is an all-time classic and the other a future-focussed electric vehicle. They provide a visual insight into the way motoring has changed over the decades,” he says.
Burgess has been a MG fan for almost 50 years and with his wife Vicki, have owned four vehicles from the marque. They purchased the MGB in 2014 and have been keeping a watch on the introduction of electric vehicles into the country.
“We have owned the MG ZS EV for four weeks now, it’s absolutely fantastic,” Burgess says.
“We glide around the Eastern beaches, Howick Village and Half Moon Bay Marina, visit our children and their families around Auckland, then simply plug it in at night – job done!
“The car is a great size for us, it’s very comfortable with lots of safety features and has room for the grandchildren and their car seats.
“It’s going to be a welcome addition to upcoming MG Car Club events and I can’t wait to display this full EV alongside my classic Roadster at the next Club display,” he says.
MG enthusiasts in Auckland who are interested in finding out more about the MG Car Club are invited to attend an upcoming Club meet, taking place on Vellenoweth Green in St Heliers on Sunday 11 December.
The Vellenoweth Green Christmas Concours is open to members of the public to view the vehicles and runs from 10am to 3pm, with MG vehicles of all vintages on display, as well as a fundraising sausage sizzle.
