A two-day conference on EVs’ critical role in helping solve the Government’s ‘climate emergency’ features key people in the EV industry.

The Climate Change Commission chief scientist Grant Blackwell leads off the discussion at EVs and Beyond’s ‘The Event Electric Vehicle Industry Conference’ at the Waiheke Island Resort on April 12 and 13.

Blackwell is followed by an interesting discussion about “EVs on the water” featuring main players in the move to electrify the marine industry – particularly ferry services in Wellington and Auckland.

The conference then gets back to “EVs on the land” with automotive industry representatives taking about where EV supply will come from and the impact the Government’s proposed Clean Car Import Standard could have on the New Zealand fleet and sales.

Heavy EV transport comes under the spotlight, with the role hydrogen can play included.

Rally ace Hayden Paddon finishes the conference first day talking about his EV rally car, and he’s the guest speaker at a networking dinner that evening too.

Day two starts with discussion around charging and fleets, plus conversations around new forms of EV use such as subscription which could see private car ownership reduce.

The conference was postponed from March due to Auckland’s COVID-19 restrictions.
