May eworld expo has electrifying topics and displays

Movers and shakers in the New Zealand’s e-mobility and sustainable technologies industries are set to charge up eworld at The Trusts Arena in Henderson, Auckland, from May 6 to 8.

Learning from the leading country in EV uptake sees Norwegian Electric Vehicle Association secretary general Christina Bu livestream her insights to open the May 6 and 7 industry conference.

Transport minister Michael Wood talks about transitioning to a multimodal e-transport system on the conference’s second day, while the trade day on May 7 and public day expo on May 8 include displays and free seminars.

The conference also covers EV charging infrastructure progress, hydrogen’s role in decarbonising New Zealand, transforming fleets, EV batteries, the outlook for e-mobility here including e-buses and e-ferries, and challenges around heavy EVs.

The expo is free to attend, showcasing a variety of EVs alongside associated infrastructure with sustainable technologies, event organiser Conferenz says.

Trade day seminars (May 7) will focus on the different elements when transitioning to an electric fleet.

Public day seminars (May 8) include information with short, sharp insights into the different elements of owning an EV, along with other information such as converting your house to a smart home, energy consumption and topical subjects like EV sharing.

Conferenz describes eworld as an opportunity to learn from the experts under one roof.

EV test drives are offered (bring your vehicle licence) and visitors can also try out various e-mobility forms such as e-bikes, e-mopeds and e-scooters.

Kiwi rally ace Hayden Paddon will showcase his EV rally car at eworld and he closes the first day of the conference talking about the project based on the Hyundai Kona Electric and the move to electric in motorsport.

The electric Harley-Davidson LiveWire will be displayed at eworld, and show specials and prizes are also offered.

The latter include a full day’s worth of Cityhop car usage in its electric VW e-Golf, an Audi e-tron for a weekend (times three prizes available), a Zoopa e-moped for a week, use of a Ford Escape and a Hyundai Kona EV Series II for a month, a Milano Plus e-bike to keep and a WallBox Pulsar charging unit with lead and plug for your home to keep.

EV fleets are supported with charging solutions and charging stations, with the expo featuring companies like ABB, CSP Pacific, Evnex, Eurotec, Future Energy, OpenLoop, TransNet, ChargeNet, YHI Energy.

E-vans on display includes Ford’s E-Transit and LDV’s EV80, while heavy e-trucks include Fuso, and SEA Electric conversions.

The latest model EVs include the AudI e-tron, Ford Escape and Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Fleet management firms such as Leaseplan, Custom Fleet and FleetPartners will be there, offering solutions for EV and hybrid leasing.

Haskel and Hiringa Energy will display their dedication to supplying green hydrogen, providing solutions for New Zealand’s commercial and heavy transport market.

Seminars start at 10.20am and include NZ Post’s journey to carbon zero, issues around transitioning to EV fleets and how to establish an effective workplace charging strategy.

Evie – Mercury’s converted 1957 Ford Fairlane, will be at the public day and visitors can also meet Hayden Paddon and his EV rally car.

EVs and Beyond will be at eworld too.
