Eliza McCartney is Hyundai NZ EV ambassador

Champion pole vaulter Eliza McCartney has been appointed Hyundai New Zealand’s electric vehicle ambassador.

A professional track and field athlete and an Environmental Sciences student with a passion for sustainability and taking action against climate change, McCartney has been breaking records and placing internationally since she started the sport as a teenager.

She now drives a Kona Electric around her home city of Auckland where she attends the University of Auckland and drives to training with her poles on board.

McCartney became the youngest Olympic medallist in the pole vault at 19 and the first New Zealand Olympic medallist in that sport when she secured bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Hyundai NZ says that bringing McCartney on board as its EV ambassador was “a no-brainer”, especially given her interests and Hyundai’s growing EV range and future built on clean energy.
