The T-Tech conference in Wellington has been abandoned with the Te Papa venue shut due to COVID-19 concerns.

Level 2, which applies from 6pm June 23 until about midnight June 27 restricts gatherings to under 100, with about 150 at the start of the T-Tech Conference at Te Papa on June 23 forced to leave.

The conference’s first keynote speaker talked via video and the event had to close just as transport minister Michael Wood was to speak, later giving a briefing outside Te Papa beside the Ohmio Lift where people were due take a free ride aboard the future of transport on Wellington’s waterfront.
