Zeekr opens Auckland flagship with four cars it doesn’t sell here yet

Zeekr opens a 550 square metre flagship showroom on Auckland’s Great North Road on Friday 25 September, and will use the opening weekend to put four cars in front of the public that it does not yet sell here.
The 9X, 8X, 001 FR and 7GT will all be on display at 137 Great North Road, in what Giltrap Zeekr general manager Shawn Rushby says is the first time the four have been shown together in New Zealand. Zeekr confirmed the 7GT, 8X and 9X for this market in August.
“This flagship location is a statement of intent for Zeekr in New Zealand,” says NordEast Group general manager Dane Fisher, who describes the 9X as a tri-motor with 1,400hp. “It reflects the belief we have in the brand, the momentum we are building and the exciting products still to come.”
The showroom is entirely indoors, with no outdoor yard, which Rushby says lets customers take their time whatever Auckland’s weather is doing. It sits within the Giltrap precinct alongside the group’s luxury franchises, and Zeekr describes it as a purpose-built facility covering consultation, technology demonstrations and vehicle delivery.
From opening day the flagship also hosts Spotlight, the photographic collaboration with Taika Waititi in which seven scenes were lit using nothing but the headlights of a Zeekr 7X. The exhibition runs through the opening weekend to 4pm on Sunday 27 September.
The opening is the third set piece Zeekr has staged here this year, after Spotlight and the Zeekr On Ice driving experience at Cardrona, where we drove the 7GT. The brand launched in New Zealand in September 2025 and now has five dealers nationwide.
Its local range has grown quickly since, and the 7X has become the volume seller, with its entry version set to gain a larger 85kWh battery in China. NordEast, a division of Giltrap Group, also distributes Polestar and the wider Geely portfolio here.
Giltrap Zeekr opens to the public at 137 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, on Friday 25 September, with extended hours through the weekend.
