BMW Group NZ introduces new EVs
BMW Group New Zealand is introducing 15 new variants this year, among them the X3 and X1 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV).
BMW’s approach is to offer customers a wide range of vehicles, from either combustion engine, plug-in hybrid or fully electric vehicles to suit individual needs.
Hybrids are becoming more and more popular across BMW Group’s product range, with 5% of BMW and 17% of Mini sales made up of electrified vehicles.
The brand also celebrates growth, with vehicle sales across its BMW and Mini brands up 8.7%, despite the total market falling 3.7%.
Mini’s first commercially available electric vehicle, the Mini Cooper SE Hatch, arrives mid this year, and 15 models have already sold.
BMW Group New Zealand managing director Karol Abrasowicz-Madej says the sales results in the challenging market confirms the brand’s commitment and desire to provide a solution for customers.
“BMW and MINI vehicles are exemplary and worldwide we are known to produce phenomenal driving experiences, but we understand that this experience isn’t just confined to the driving seat.
“That’s why we have focused not just on bringing a wide range of premium passenger vehicles to New Zealand, but also on strengthening our commitment to customers of both brands. The significant investment in our dealership network over the past year has ensured every representation of BMW and MINI embodies the design, engineering and customer centricity that is so important to us and to drivers all over the country.”
