BMW iX4 revealed with up to 828km range
The BMW iX4 is the third Neue Klasse model, with up to 828km WLTP range and 400kW charging. Australian deliveries start in early 2027.
BMW has revealed the iX4, an electric SUV coupé and the third model built on its Neue Klasse architecture. In Australia, two dual-motor versions arrive in the first quarter of 2027, with the iX4 50 xDrive quoted at up to 828km of WLTP range.
BMW Australia has priced the iX4 40 xDrive from A$103,900 and the iX4 50 xDrive from A$119,900. An iX4 M60 xDrive follows later in 2027. New Zealand pricing and timing have not been announced.
The iX4 follows the iX3, the first Neue Klasse model, which launched in New Zealand at $125,900, and the new i3 sedan. It uses the same sixth-generation drivetrain and battery technology as the iX3, which we drove in Australia earlier this year. Read our iX3 review or watch the video below.

Range and charging
Both versions use BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive system, with an 800-volt electrical architecture, cylindrical battery cells and a motor on each axle. BMW says it delivers around 30 per cent more range and 30 per cent faster charging than the previous generation.
The iX4 50 xDrive has a 108.7kWh (net) battery, 345kW and 645Nm, and runs 0-100km/h in 4.9 seconds. It charges at up to 400kW DC, and BMW says it can add up to 387km of WLTP range in 10 minutes.
The iX4 40 xDrive has an 82.6kWh battery, 275kW and 520Nm, with a 0-100km/h time of 5.6 seconds and up to 638km of WLTP range. It charges at up to 300kW DC.
Both versions charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 21 minutes, according to BMW.

BMW says up to 98 per cent of everyday braking can be handled by regeneration without using the friction brakes. Drive, braking, regeneration and steering functions are controlled by a single computer BMW calls the Heart of Joy.

Body and cabin
The iX4 is 4782mm long, 1895mm wide and 1595mm tall, on a 2897mm wheelbase. The drag coefficient is 0.23. Boot space is 490 litres, rising to 1600 litres with the rear seats folded, and there is a 58-litre storage space under the bonnet.

Inside is BMW’s Panoramic iDrive with Operating System X. Information is displayed across the base of the windscreen through Panoramic Vision, alongside a 17.9-inch central display. In Australia, the standard M Sport package includes 20-inch wheels, and a panoramic sunroof, 3D head-up display and Harman Kardon audio are also standard.

The iX4 is built at BMW’s Debrecen plant in Hungary. BMW says around 30 per cent of the car is made from secondary materials, based on preliminary forecasts.
