BYD plans another electric SUV
A new BYD SUV, the Song L, will soon launch in China, according to media reports.
It’s likely to join the Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal here and in Australia, although BTD Auto New Zealand says it’s taking the Sea Lion instead of the Song L.
The Song L battery electric vehicle (BEV) is expected to be offered in five variants with 150kW to 230kW power and a four-wheel drive of 380kW.
Three Blade batteries may be available providing up to 550km, 602km and 662km range on the China light-duty vehicle test cycle (CLTC).
BYD revealed the Song L at the April Shangahai Auto Show, according to CnEVPost, which adds BYD began previewing the production version in August.
The company has reportedly received more than 28,000 pre-orders in seven weeks since pre-sales began on October 31.
EVs and Beyond also reported on the BYD Sea Lion unveiling at another China auto show in November, plans for a ute at Fieldays 2024, its EV projections, and BYD is even building its own ships to ensure EV supply globally.
