Cost-cutting brings early end to German EV subsidy

Germany’s EV subsidy programme has ended after initially being intended to continue until the end of next year.

It paid out about 10 billion euros since 2016, Reuters reports, adding the 2024 budget had to be trimmed after a court ruling.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s new government has confirmed its EV subsidy scheme under the Clean Car Discount will end December 31 this year, although e-mobility advocate Drive Electric has called for EV incentives to continue.
