Croatian firm developing EVs from motorcycles to small trucks

A new model electric car (EV) dubbed the “YD” is being developed by Zagreb-based company Dok-Ing.

It introduced the first Croatian electric car, the XD Concept, eight years ago, and launched a more up to date model this week.

The YD is a personal electric car with four seats, three doors and a standard steering wheel. Dok-Ing has produced four so far, two were sold and the other two kept for its own needs. It would have to finance the construction of a factory to produce more. “I do not want to do this without an investor,” owner Vjekoslav Majetic says.

Dok-Ing has developed a range of EVs, including a small, multifunctional electric cargo truck the “Tom Tom”. It carries two people and can be equipped with modules for delivery, waste disposal, fire-fighting, cranes and even passenger transportation.

There’s also the first Croatian electric motorcycle under the Core brand, a partnership with a Spanish firm for the assembly, processing and distribution of electric motors.

Total Croatia News reports there’s suggestions more than 1000 electric motorcycles could be sold in Croatia. “These are commercial transportation that we have been developing in the past two years, primarily to serve in the delivery of mail, pizzas, fast food and for similar purposes, for which corporations are quite interested,” Majetic says.

He says the company is working on 30 different development projects, but financing is the key.
Dok-Iing has also been involved in manufacturing robotic demining vehicles.
