Dongfeng E70 launched with solid-state battery

Fifty Dongfeng Fengshen (Aeolus) E70 demonstration EVs with solid-state lithium batteries have been delivered by the Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
The solid-state batteries were developed through a joint venture project between Dongfeng Technology Centre and Ganfeng Lithium Battery with the new E70 also able to battery swap.
Dongfeng says it’s a prelude to the industrialisation of solid-state batteries in China, CarNewsChina reports adding that the 50 EVs will operate in Jiangxi, Guangzhou, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu provinces as solid-state battery demonstration vehicles, probably for ride-hailing services.

Without the need for liquid, solid-state batteries can be denser, compact, and lighter with increased energy capacity, faster to charge, have an extended service life, quicker and easier to make and are safe – not catching fire even if damaged.
More solid-state batteries are expected to be produced within the next few years.
Dongfeng’s first battery swap station was opened on January 14 in Hengyang City, Hunan province, with each swap taking about three minutes.
The Dongfeng E70 EV was launched in China in 2017 and is now reported to have about 351km range, 93.2kW of power and 262Nm of torque.
