Eyes on India for next ABB FIA FE event
Kiwi racing drivers Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) and Nick Cassidy (Envision Racing, which uses Jaguar race cars) are hoping to do better in the fourth round of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Hyderabad, India on February 11 after their performances in the Diriyah double-header.
Evans finished seventh in the championship third round – taking his third successive points finish of the new season, while Cassidy was 13th in the second race at Diriyah after coming sixth in the first.
Their team-mates (Sam Bird for Jaguar and Sebastian Buemi for Envision) did better to help secure valuable points.
Jaguar TCS Racing remains fifth in the teams’ standings, with Sam Bird fourth and Mitch Evans ninth in the drivers’ standings.
“I had a good start on both days and have had good pace all weekend but it still hasn’t worked out the way we wanted it to,” says Evans.
“It’s not flowed for me this weekend and I have often been in the wrong place at the wrong time. We’ll go away, look at the data and move onto the next race.”
Meanwhile, Porsche had an outstanding weekend in Saudi Arabia with Pascal Wehrlein (TAG Heuer Porsche) winning both races after Porsche’s customer team Avalanche Andretti won the season opener in Mexico.
After round three of 16 races, Wehrlein leads the drivers’ classification with 68 points and his team is second with 74 points.
The official season nine charging partner, ABB has announced its e-mobility division delivered its millionth EV charger.
ABB E-mobility has sold more than one million EV chargers globally across its AC and DC charging portfolio, with continued growth facilitated by doubling of production capacity following the launch of a new DC fast charger facility in Valdarno, Italy.
