First MG4 spotted in New Zealand
The first MG4 fully-electric hatchback has landed in New Zealand, and is already out-and-about in Auckland.
The vehicle was spotted by an eagle-eyed NZ EV Owners Facebook page user in the car park of the City Works Depot complex on the edge of the central city.
EVs and Beyond understands the model is a lower-spec model, here for evaluation. An online search confirms this particular car is the 51kWh battery version, not the 64kWh version currently priced for sale and open for expressions of interest at dealers.
It is expected to be a few months before customers cars arrive in the country.
MG Motor New Zealand surprised pundits – including EVs and Beyond – with confirmation that the $54,990 start price for the MG4 is for the 64kWh model, and not a 51kWh version as predicted.
At $850 a kWh, the MG4 takes the prize for the most kWh per dollar in the EV market, trumping the LDV Mifa 9 at $880, and the MG ZS EV and Ssangyong eKorando that sit at around $1000 per kWh.
