Higher power prices expected
Higher electricity prices are forecast this year.
That’s the message from Radio New Zealand (RNZ) which suggests wholesale prices may cause issues, plus the next step in the phase-out of the low-user electricity tariffs from April 1 which may see increases in the maximum daily charge to $1.50, a possible $10 to $25 rise in iine charges, and the Commerce Commission previously allowing Transpower and the electricity distribution businesses to up the revenue they collect.
Generators and retailers are expected to announce any electricity price changes between now and April 2025.
EVs and Beyond last year indicated electricity prices were likely to rise.
