Kiwi third in Marrakesh e-Prix
Jaguar TCS Racing driver Mitch Evans of New Zealand finished third in the ABB FIA Formula E Marrakesh e-Prix in Morocco on July 3.
The podium finish has kept Evans in the drivers’ points race but he says that every time he gets a good result so too do his closest rivals.

“We’re going to have to be on our A-game to keep in the championship fight, but I have full confidence in the package I’ve got and the team, so we’ll keep at it,” says Evans who is now focussed on the New York City event on July 16 and 17.
“Last year , we should have finished one-two, and I decided to hit the wall, so I owe the team a podium there.”
In Marrakesh, Evans was unhappy in an earlier tussle with Porsche driver Pascal Wehrlein but once past him Evans says he used “a bit of tyre and a little bit of energy to catch up” on the front runners.
“I got myself back in the mix, which was good, but I just felt on the back foot slightly with the car balance, because I felt like my tyre life was a bit compromised.”
Evans says he hung on near the race end, also managing some battery temperature in the searing heat.
Edoardo Mortara of the Rokit Venturi team won the event, with Evans 15 points adrift of Mortara and just behind Jean-Eric Vergne (DS-Techeeta) and Stuffel Vandoorne (Mercedes-EQ) in the Drivers’ World Championship.
