Envision Racing’s Nick Cassidy of New Zealand won the inaugural Portland E-Prix.

Fellow Kiwi Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) kept his title hopes alive by going from 20th on the grid to fourth, gaining an extra point for posting the fastest lap.

The Portland International Raceway results raise the prospect of a grandstand finish to the 2022/23 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship title fight.

Avalanche Andretti’s Jake Dennis was second and retains his narrow lead for the series; crown and TAG Heuer Porsche’s Antonio Felix da Cost third at the 3.19km circuit.

Cassidy’s win puts him within a single point the ABB FIA FE standings with four races to go in Season 9.

Two double-headers follow – in Rome on July 15 and 16 and London on July 29 and 30.

“It’s close, it’s fun, it’s Formula E,” says Cassidy who drives a Jaguar-powered car.

“To be fair, I saw Mitch (Evans) up with me at stages, I saw Seb, I saw Sam. And we all started far back. So credit to Jaguar and credit to Envision Racing. What a car, what a powertrain.”
