Nissan EV joins Harrods delivery fleet
A fully electric Nissan e-NV200 van has been added to legendary London department store Harrods’ delivery fleet.
Nissan officially handed over the 100% electric vehicle (EV) to Harrods outside its Knightsbridge store this week.
The EV has been specially adapted to fit Harrods’ delivery needs. It’s cargo area is fully refrigerated and shelving units have been added so fresh groceries can be transported in optimum condition. The van is in Harrods’ traditional green and gold livery.
The e-NV200 has a range of up to 170km on a single charge, which means it can make up to 50 deliveries a week. It covers an average 241km, with Harrods only needing to charge it once a week.
The average running cost is €0.03 (NZ5cents) per kilometre.
Harrods has used electric vehicles previously.
In 1919, the store used solid-tyred American Walker electric vans, later building its own fleet of 60 EVs to deliver goods to London customers. These were phased out as petrol engines became popular.
Harrods media sales director Guy Cheston says it’s wonderful to have an electric van back.

Nissan Europe EV director Gareth Dunsmore says businesses are taking major steps to reduce their impact on the environment.
More than 27,000 Nissan EVs have been sold to businesses across Europe.
