PBT to operate Hyzon hydrogen fuel cell truck
Express freight company PBT will be among the first New Zealand operators of Hyzon hydrogen fuel cell trucks due to arrive in the country by mid-2022.
PBT will operate the Hyzon truck under a fully maintained operating lease with TR Group and in association with Hiringa Refuelling and Hyzon Motors.
TR Group has ordered 20 of the trucks for the New Zealand market with the first units arriving by mid-2022 for performance testing with the remainder arriving towards the end of the year.
The 600hp, 58 tonne gross combined mass (GCM) tractor units will be powered by 100% green hydrogen.
“Our customers are increasingly focused on more sustainable supply chains, and we share similar values when it comes to decarbonising the transport network and delivering a better tomorrow,” PBT chief executive Dave Lovegrove says
“At PBT we’re focused on a range of initiatives from in-vehicle technology to improve fuel efficiency, to electric forklifts in our branch network, and now with this exciting new and 100% green heavy vehicle technology.”
Fulton Hogan recently announced it will also be among the first New Zealand adopters of the Hyzon fuel cell electric trucks.
