Robots are coming

Chery Group debuted its AiMOGA Mornine Robot at its Intelligent Strategy Conference in China.

“Our intelligent R&D (research and development) team exceeds 5500 people, and the newly established AiMOGA Robot Company will accelerate the development and commercial application of humanoid robots in the future,” says Chery Group chairman Yin Tongyue.

The AiMOGA robot is described as “almost human like with its operations”, featuring dexterous hands and 41 degrees of freedom and walking at speeds of up to one metre a second (1m/s) and avoiding obstacles with a five-way sensor matrix.

It’s expected to help pioneer robotics in automotive sales innovations.

An AiMOGA robot is already in commercial deployment at a Kuala Lumpur dealership says Chery Group which aims to have it in shopping centres, cinemas, and for smart home assistance.

“It also possesses dual-core intelligent brains, leveraging the Deepseek large models to achieve multimodal environmental perception and precise professional knowledge Q&A (question and answer). It supports natural communication in 10 languages with a recognition rate of up to 95%.

“Through cloud-based configuration tools, it can transform into a domain expert within one hour after uploading domain knowledge, greatly improving deployment efficiency.”

Meanwhile, DoorDash has launched autonomous delivery bots with reports suggesting Coco Robotics delivery robots are in Los Angeles and Chicago involving nearly 600 merchants after a pilot in Helsinki earlier this year.

Uber has opened its Waymo waitlist in Atlanta while the 2025 Gridwise Gig Mobility Report outlines what changes are likely for rideshare, delivery, and autonomous fleets.

It shows growth in delivery demand in the US with DoorDash retail deliveries up 34.1% and Uber Eats up 46.6%.

Chery has also introduced its ‘Falcon’ smart driving system for all of the group’s brands and models this year.

The Falcon 500 is a large model-based integrated driving and parking system supporting highway navigate on autopilot (NOA), urban memory navigation, and automated parking, while Falcon 700 has enhanced computing power for seamless full-scenario navigation, including valet parking and spot-to-spot smart driving, and Falcon 900 is a Level 3 system using a very large array (VLA) and a world model for advanced autonomous driving.

Chery is investing in robotic automation, flying cars, robotaxi services, and unmanned buses.

By the end of this year it expects more than 30 vehicle models across all powertrains globally will feature the Falcon smart driving system, Shanghai Metal Market reports.
