THK to debut LSR-05 EV prototype at Paris Motor Show
Japanese technology company THK will show the prototype of its LSR-05 EV at the Paris Motor Show (October 14-20).
First previewed at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 in Tokyo, the LSR-05 was created in partnership with Shiro Nakamura and SN Design Platform and is a showcase for several THK technologies.
Founded in 1971 in Tokyo, THK became known for its linear motion technology and has subsequently grown to supply the machine tool industry and automakers around the world through 37 factories.
“This will be a very special day for our company to have a presence at the Paris Auto Salon and for the first time show a THK prototype vehicle outside of Japan,” says THK chief executive Akihiro Teramachi.
The LSR-05 showcases technologies such as the Stealth Seat- slide system, in-wheel motors with four-wheel steering system, active suspension, and a contactless charging system.
A sport four-seater crossover coupe, the LSR-05 is 4995mm long, 1965mm wide and 1530mm high.
THK chief operating officer Takashi Teramachi will present many of the company’s technologies featured on the LSR-05 based on a platform integrating two of THK’s original 93kW variable-flux in-wheel electric motors in the rear, complemented by a 220kW electric motor in the front, forming part of a four-wheel steering system.
This, coupled with features such as active suspension, MR fluid active dampers, and electric brakes, delivers exceptional ride comfort and handling stability, says THK
“In addition, the cabin is equipped with a hidden seat adjustment system that ensures a flat floor and creates a luxurious and comfortable interior.
“The LSR-05 also features a contactless charging system that perfectly embodies THK’s forward-looking vision for future mobility.”
Takahashi Teramachi says THK is already working on LSR-07 as a next-generation prototype, with more of this program expected at next year’s Japan Mobility Show.
