Two Kiwis at Jaguar TCS Racing for next ABB FE season

Nick Cassidy will join fellow Kiwi Mitch Evans at Jaguar TCS Racing for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship for the 2024 season, replacing Briton Sam Bird who has since signed with Neom McLaren Racing.
Cassidy’s move from the Envision Racing team, where he coincidentally uses Jaguar I-Type race cars, follows his most successful Formula E season with four wins.
Jaguar TCS Racing announced Cassidy’s signing shortly after confirming Evans will stay on with Jaguar after it joined the electric world championship in 2016.
The two Kiwis will be one of the strongest driver line-ups on the grid, with 15 wins, 37 podiums, 11 pole positions and 1076 championship points between them, says Jaguar TCS Racing.
Cassidy and Evans have competed since childhood in karting and Formula Toyota, Auckland-born Cassidy winning on debut in the Formula First New Zealand series in 2008 before becoming one of the most successful drivers in the Toyota Racing Series.
He has raced in the FIA Formula 3 European and Renault 2.0 championships, and won the Japanese Formula 3 Championship in 2015, the Super GT Championship in 2019 and the pinnacle Super Formula title in 2019 – all driving for Toyota, joining the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in 2020 driving for Envision Racing.
Last year, Cassidy won the New York E-Prix and finished 11th in the Drivers’ Championship, this year helping Envision Racing to top of the Teams’ World Championship and finishing runner-up in the Drivers’s World Championship.
“Nick’s track record speaks for itself and is someone we have always had our eye on back to his time racing in Japan,” says Jaguar TCS Racing Team principal James Barclay.
Cassidy, who will race as number 37, says he looks forward to having Evans (No. 9) as a teammate.
“We have known each other since we were kids and have raced against each other for years, so I’m proud that we will be racing together and hope to continue to put New Zealand on the map in motorsport.”
The 2024 season begins on January 13 in Mexico City for the first of 17 rounds.
