Wellington’s broken e-ferry expected back in service this May
Wellington electric ferry the Ika Rere (flying fish) has been tied up at Queen’s Wharf there since it broke down in July last year.
Thee-ferry’s owner, East by West Ferries, is waiting for a part from overseas and the Ika Rere should be back in business this May.
Built by the Wellington Electric Boat Building Company (WEBBCo) for East by West Ferries, the Ika Rere was launched in December 2021, says Meridian Energy.
Meanwhile, Auckland’s electric ferries are expected to be presented from this year, says Auckland Transport.
