About 1047 rebates for EVs and PHEVs worth about $5.7 million have been approved in the first month of the Clean Car Discount applying from July 1.

Figures released to 1 NEWS reveal 1422 applications for the rebate were received during July, with about 1200 processed and 1047 approved.

EV sales have soared as a result, with transport minister Michael Wood saying the Clean Car Discount is having the desired effect.

July EV registrations rocketed and EV dealers featured in the latest EVs and Beyond magazine report booming trade.
