Speculation is mounting after a possible Tesla Cybertruck sighting at a New Zealand airport, leading many to wonder if the much anticipated electric pickup could be here for winter testing.

Reports suggest the Cybertruck is either on the way or has come from the Southern Hemisphere Proving Grounds (SHPG), the automotive proving ground near Queenstown. Tesla engineers were recently at the site as part of development of the Model Y Track Mode. You can watch footage of that testing here.

The latest footage of what appears to be a wrapped up Cybertruck was originally posted by Murray Alexander to a Tesla NZ Facebook group and has since been shared widely.

On May 20, Tesla’s offical Twitter page shared a photo of the Cybertruck carrying out winter testing at what appears to be the site, lending weight to speculation testing might have already been completed.

The Cybertruck is expected to be ready for deliveries starting late this year and reportedly has more than one million customer reservations.

Tesla chief executive Elon Musk has indicated a special launch ceremony will be held for the Cybertruck where trim levels and pricing will be revealed, says Teslerati which reports camouflaged Cybertruck spotting around California.

Meanwhile, it’s also been reported the Cybertruck project could face further delays.
