MG Motor launching Marvel R Electric SUV in Europe
MG Motor Europe has confirmed that it will be launching the all-electric Marvel R mid-size SUV into the competitive C-segment market in May 2021.
A representative for MG Motor Australia and New Zealand told CarAdvice that there were no plans yet to distribute the RAV4-sized competitor in the Australasian market’s but the vehicle is certainly on its radar.
The luxury Marvel R Electric offers all-wheel drive system with three electric motors, one on the front axle and two on the rear.
It has a maximum output of 212kW and peak torque of 665Nm and will sprint from zero to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 200km/h. A less powerful rear-wheel drive version with two electric motors will also be offered to European markets according to MG Motor.
The Marvel R Electric is 4674 mm long, 1919 mm wide and 1618 mm tall and the 2800mm wheelbase offers more than enough interior space says the manufacturer.

The cabin also features a 19.4-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel.
It offers a range of over 400 kilometres (WLTP), while drivers can count on quick charging capability at a public charging point (AC) due to the 11kW on-board 3-phase charger.
The battery is also suitable for fast charging (DC) to fill it up to 80% in 30 minutes. Climate control with an internal heat pump guarantees optimal charging performance at low temperatures.
Another feature of the MG Marvel R Electric is the V2L system (vehicle-to-load). This technology allows the lithium-ion battery to supply energy to an external electrical system, for example an air pump, electric scooter, a laptop or even another BEV. This technology is considered as an important innovation for the clean energy transition and last-mile solution.

The maximum towing weight of the MG Marvel R Electric is 750 kg. The car is suitable for towing a trailer or caravan. Or two e-bikes on a special bicycle carrier.
The luggage compartment in the rear offers a volume of 357 litres. With the rear seat folded down, it can be increased to 1396 litres. The RWD version of the Marvel R Electric also offers 150 litres of luggage space under the hood, also known as a frunk.
The European market launch of the new MG Marvel R Electric is scheduled for May this year.
