April 12/13 new EV conference dates
EVs and Beyond’s The EVent conference will run on April 12 and 13, 2021, following its postponement prompted by Auckland’s COVID-19 March lockdown.
The conference will continue to be held on ‘Electric Island’ Waiheke, with almost the same series of knowledgeable and influential speakers.
“We are pleased to get the show on the road again after our enforced delay,” conference manager Deborah Baxter says.
Key speakers include Climate Change Commission Grant Blackwell, Chief Scientist, UBCO NZ chief executive Timothy Allan, Auckland Transport bus fleet transition specialist Steve Zahorodny, ChargeNet NZ chief executive and co-founder Steve West, ElectricAir founder Gary Freedman, consultant Liz Yeaman, Aaron Gillan of YHI and former MG New Zealand country manager Anthony MacLean.
The conference also covers the heavy vehicle trade, with Alsco’s Gavin Smith accounting for the firm’s real world experience operating a heavy truck.
Andrew Clennett of Hiringa Energy talks about hydrogen production and distribution, while Gavin Young from Hyundai New Zealand outlines prospects for hydrogen power.

The first day wraps up with a networking dinner with Kiwi rally driver Hayden Paddon the guest speaker.
He explains his newly launched electric rally car based on a Hyundai Kona at a session the next day, adding how he sees motorsport going electric.
