Waiheke-EV-March-14-public-open-day

Uncertainty around COVID restrictions in Auckland has led to cancellation of the Electric Island Waiheke Weekend of WOW events on February 27 and 28.

However, the EVs and Beyond Conference scheduled on the island for March 1 and 2 continues as planned.

Auckland is back to operating under COVID alert level 1 restrictions after being in alert level 2 from February 18-23 which limited gatherings to 100.

Organisers says it is with much regret they decided late on February 17 to cancel the Electric Island events for the last weekend of February because of the uncertainty around Auckland’s COVID-19 alert levels and the safety of the Waiheke community, exhibitors’ commitments and travel considerations.“But we have begun to plan for a bigger and broader event in 12 months’ time,” they say.

“In the meantime, we will continue to develop our presence on the island, and with our loyal working groups extend the successes that we have had over the last two years as we progress to our goal of fossil free by 2030.”

Organisers hope to run the events again in February next year.
